About IFC

Agency Profile
Intensive Family Counseling, Inc. (IFC) was founded in 1984 to address the need for home-based counseling services. In the beginning, IFC operated exclusively through fee-for-service agreements with government agencies. The privatization of social services increased challenges for small agencies such as IFC to remain competitive. In response, IFC obtained its 501(c)(3), non-profit status in 2000. This step increased opportunities for the continued delivery of programs and services through grants and charitable donations. Today, IFC focuses on two home-based counseling programs:

  1. Functional Family Therapy (FFT)
  2. Job Readiness and Job Retention Services (JRD/JRT)
To increase the sustainability of our successful programs and services, our Board of Directors & Staff are developing relationships with others who share our passion for helping youth and families experience success at home, school and in the community.

Professional Values and Agency Philosophy
Our work with individuals and families is based on the following professional values:

  • Every individual and family has unique interests, abilities and skills that we must identify to build momentum for positive change.
  • The social worker or case manager has a primary role in helping individuals and families identify the motivation for change.
  • Strategies for change should be based on the unique needs of the individual and family.
  • Connecting individuals to community resources will help them continue to learn, grow and change.
The integration of clinical social work and case management is a comprehensive blend of knowledge and skills which is the foundation for the delivery of our home-based services. Clinical social work is the professional application of social work theory and methods for treatment and prevention of psychosocial dysfunction, disability, or impairment, including emotional and mental health disorders. Case management is a collaborative process of assessment, planning, facilitating and coordinating multiple services to meet specific needs of the individual and family. Our professional staff works to develop a collaborative, trusting relationship that focuses on achievement and accomplishing specific goals that have been defined by the individual or family.
